The Joseph Store House Distribution Center (JSDC) is the community outreach component of the Billy Thompson Champion Center. This new ministry will first and foremost allow us to have a tremendous impact on the City of Boca Raton as well as the surrounding communities.
The Joseph Store House Distribution Center is comprised of 4 components:
Health and Wellness: This division provides free HIV/AIDS testing as well as support group services; varied health related screening services, mental health and counseling services, medical referrals, pro bono medical services and more. The Wellness center is a beacon of hope for the underinsured and those who need support to afford the rising costs of medical care.
Food Distribution: This component is comprised of a food pantry for homeless persons and a food distribution center which allows us to provide meals at a very low cost for families. Our partnership with Heavenly Foods, a national food company, to sell and distribute meals to individuals and families will ease the burden of hunger for many throughout the East Coast. A portion of the proceeds from the food sales go directly to the church to assist with our on-going programs for our youth.
Thrift Store: The thrift store receives and sells new and gently worn items of clothing, shoes, house wares and other household goods to sell to members at a discounted price. Our business model of purchasing, reselling and recycling gives communities a smart way to shop. The thrift store will be a viable part of the community and of increasing the economy of the Champion center as we grow and expand.
Aquaponics & Hydroponics: We are on the cutting edge of new technology and through this area of the ministry we will sell of farm raised tilapia and vegetables. The term aquaponics is a food production system which allows fish to grow and be raised in tanks. The other side to this is hydroponics, a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. The advantage of hydroponics is that food is free of soil-born insects, funguses, viruses and diseases. The crop from these divisions will not only create healthy food choices free of pesticides, preservatives and other harmful elements but it will provide jobs and learning opportunities for young people.
